The future and present of the Cubs will be represented this weekend at the College World Series.
Alex Lange, the Cubs’ second first-round pick, will start Louisiana State first-round game Saturday night against Florida State at Ameritrade Park. Lange is no stranger to the big stage, as he struck out 10 in throwing a 5-3 complete-game victory over Cal State Fullerton as freshman in the 2015 CWS.
Lange posted a 9-5 record and 2.92 ERA while striking out 134 in 111 innings for the Tigers this season.
Cubs Chaplain Fr. Burke Masters will deliver the CWS Father’s Day Mass for the Knights of Columbus Sports Council honoring veterans and President George H.W. Bush on his 70th anniversary of his appearance in the 1947 CWS while playing first base for Yale.
Masters played for Mississippi State in the 1990 CWS.
